Laser Chase 1.2
This is a Shooting Game
Mactivity's CD-ROM nr 10 advice: This application did
run on a b/w 68030 processor under System 7.1. It was
also tested on a big ColorScreen of a PowerMacintosh
running System 7.1.2. The game was also tested on a
Quadra with 68040 processor and a 13 inch Color Screen
and System 7.1 by Mactivity.
The idea has been seen in different forms before...laser
bicycles, snakes, whatever. The game consists (so
far) of two players battling against each other. They
attempt to cross each other's path and force the opponent
to crash into an obstacle. When one person hits an
obstacle, his "laser" loses its energy, and
the other player receives the point total listed in
the upper left corner of the screen.
An obstacle is:
* Your own laser trail
* Your opponents laser trail
* Walls
* Letters
The Options Menu: This is the only menu which requires
explanation. It selects the different modes of play.
"Letters" keeps the introductory letters
(LaserChase!... player 1 score, player 2 score) on
the screen and you can manoeuvre around them. "Normal"
makes random straight-lined obstacles. Beware! These
can be right next to or even on top of your starting
point! "Maze" makes a maze to wind through
for fun. "Clear" is self-explanatory...the
screen is clear.
* The HyperCube: The HyperCube is a nifty feature I
threw into the game for the ".2" part of
the version. When one laser runs into it, they are
both displaced to weird positions according to BOTH
OF THEIR previous positions and directions. I kind
of made up an algorithm, and I'm still not sure how
it works, so be careful! The HyperCube can put your
opponent in a deadly spot, but if you do it at the
wrong time, it can kill you, too!
